CostEstimator Editorial Team
Cost Research & Estimating Team
The CostEstimator Editorial Team researches home improvement pricing across every U.S. region using a blended cost model. We combine national baseline costs from published industry sources (HomeAdvisor, Remodeling Magazine Cost vs. Value, JCHS at Harvard) with U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data and regional ZIP-level multipliers so estimates reflect what homeowners actually pay in each market.
Our calculators are reviewed quarterly against the latest published cost data, and every estimate cites the underlying material and labor sources so you can verify the numbers yourself.
Credentials & Review Standards
Research reviewed against HomeAdvisor 2026 cost guides, Remodeling Magazine Cost vs. Value Report, and U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (OES) wage data.
Methodology
Every estimate = (national baseline material cost + BLS regional labor rate × hours) × ZIP-3 cost multiplier. Baselines are refreshed quarterly; regional multipliers are refreshed when BLS releases new OES data.
